Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 3-for-4 with a homer, double and three RBI on Tuesday evening as the Blue Jays rallied to defeat the Diamondbacks.
The 26-year-old slugger opened the scoring in Tuesday’s game with an RBI double off of Brandon Pfaadt in the home half of the first inning. He then demolished a first-pitch fastball for a 448-foot (112.1 mph EV) solo shot in the third inning that extended the Jays’ lead to 2-0. Guerrero also added a run-scoring single off of Ryan Thompson that pulled the Jays to within a run at 4-3. With his three-hit attack, he’s now slashing .281/.380/.434 with nine long balls and 34 RBI.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI against the Phillies on Saturday.
Guerrero knocked a base hit in the third inning, then drove in one of Toronto’s two runs with a double in the fifth. He delivered two of the Blue Jays five hits as the lineup was quieted by Cristopher Sánchez. The 26-year-old first baseman is slashing .278/.380/.421 with eight homers, 41 runs scored, and 31 RBI across 305 plate appearances.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a steal in the Blue Jays’ 5-2 victory over the Cardinals.
That’s a three-game sweep for the Jays in St. Louis. After getting a rare day off Tuesday, Guerrero responded with four hard-hit balls today. The best of those was a 111-mph liner to center, but that was hit right at Victor Scott Jr., forcing Guerrero to settle for two hits.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s series opener against the Cardinals.
Guerrero takes a seat for one of the few times this entire season after appearing in 66 consecutive games to open the year. It’ll be Ernie Clement filling in at the cold corner on Tuesday night at Busch Stadium. The 26-year-old franchise cornerstone is hitting .275/.380/.421 with eight homers, 29 RBI and one steal. The over-the-fence pop hasn’t quite been there relative to the other elite options at the cold corner, but it’s hard to classify his season as a total disappointment so far. He’s shown in past years that he can heat up at at the drop of a hat and put together an extended offensive surge.
